This deposit is non-refundable. This is a deposit ONLY. Final invoice will vary based on final animal live weight.
Cost for whole hog is $2 per pound of live weight + meat processing fee (paid by you directly to Hess Meat Market at time of meat pickup).
Cost for half hog is $2.50 per pound of live weight + meat processing fee (paid by you directly to Hess Meat Market at time of meat pickup).
Current estimated animal live weights available are 450-550 pounds for a whole hog.
Hog shares are by far the most economical way to provide your family with high quality, pasture raised pork. Each hog half will produce roughly 200 - 250 pounds of fresh meat and take up 12cu-15cu ft. of freezer space. If you are purchasing a freezer, always best to get the largest you can.
Once your deposit has been paid, I will reach out to coordinate your processing date and get your cut order. We will take your hog to our processor (Hess Meat Market in Muenster, TX) then you will receive the final invoice for the remaining balance of the animal.
From butcher date to pick up date is usually 2 weeks. Once ready our butcher, Hess Meat Market, will call you for pick up. You will pay the processing cost directly to the butcher at meat pick up time. Processing cost average about $2 per pound when getting mostly fresh meat. Getting sausage made will increase your cost another $1 - $2 per pound.
